Learning to know each other…programs in Information technique ( part 1 )

This survey will target information technicians from the province of Québec (francophones and anglophones) and francophone technicians from the rest of Canada.  So we thought it would be a good idea to look at the school programs of those concerned !  We hope it will help to make these programs more well-known, to indicate who is admissible and to help define our collective professional identity.

First Stop : French Québec
 
Students are taught to :

•    Manage information on all types of support
•    Analyze the contents of diverse documents
•    Manage collections
•    Research documents or information
•    Answer requests for information

Where they work :
•    Libraries
•    Specialized documentation centres
•    Records management centres or services
•    Archive administration centres or services
•    Informational intelligence centres or services
•    Book stores

Apprendre à se connaître...les programmes en techniques de la documentation (2)

Pour faire suite au premier billet sur les programmes en techniques de la documentation, nous faisons un arrêt pour parler de la formation québécoise anglophone.

Le Cegep John Abbott est la seule institution d'enseignement offrant le programme des techniques de la documentation en anglais au Québec. Ce dernier y porte le nom d'Information and Library Technologies. La durée et les objectifs de l'enseignement sont les mêmes que dans sa contrepartie francophone. Le nom donné aux finissants est Information technicians. Voici la structure des cours offerts :

Apprendre à se connaître...les programmes en techniques de la documentation (1)

Le sondage va s'adresser aux technicien(ne)s en documentation du Québec (francophones et anglophones) et à ceux du Canada (francophone).  Nous avons donc pensé faire un petit tour des programmes qui seront concernés !  Nous espérons ainsi faire connaître ces programmes, indiquer qui sera admissible, et avancer d'un pas dans la définition de notre identité professionnelle collective.

Arrêt 1 : Québec francophone
 
Les étudiants sont formés pour :
  • Gérer l'information présentée sur des supports matériels ou électroniques.
  • Analyser les contenus de documents de toutes sortes.
  • Gérer des collections de documents.
  • Faire des recherches de documents ou d'information.
  • Répondre aux besoins d'information. 
Ils travaillent où :
  • Bibliothèques
  • Centres de documentation spécialisés
  • Services ou centres de gestion des documents administratifs
  • Services ou centres de gestion des archives
  • Services ou centres de veille informationnelle
